The Up North Resort in Grand Marais, Minnesota was established by the LaFontaine family in 2001. Situated along Lake Superior and ten minutes from Lake LaFontaine, Up North Resort offers a variety of outdoor activities, dining options, and local attractions. There are also various lodging options to choose from, ranging from a lakeview cabin to a cozy cottage to a rustic-style hotel overlooking both the lake and golf course.

Up North Resort attracts tourists from all around the United States, especially in the Summer season. We've had some families drive up from Florida to enjoy a week at our resort during the Summer. Another family from Alaska stopped by for two nights on their way to explore the Upper and Lower Peninsulas of Michigan, and they really enjoyed our lake activities. We've also had a family from California come stay during Winter to enjoy the nearby snowboarding and cross-country skiing. We love the diversity of our resort guests, from their interests to places of residence.

Location

Minnesota's number one resort, Up North Resort is located in Grand Marais, Minnesota, right along the scenic Lake Superior. Nearby cities include Silver Bay, Minnesota; Duluth, Minnesota; and Superior, Wisconsin. This location is ideal for watersports, such as paddle boarding, water skiing, and fishing in the Summer; one can also bike or hike in the area's many scenic forest and lake trails. During Winter, there are plenty of nearby skiing, ice fishing, and snowmobiling opportunities. Up North Resort is an outdoor lover's paradise!
